Why does my computer automatically go to Recovery Console when I start it?

When I turn on my computer, it just goes straight to recovery console.
Is there a way to fix this, or do I need a new computer?

Maybe find a Local Mom and Pop service company for best results. Have it diagnosed – usually free
Then decide more $ to be spent or get a new machine
