why computer screen start to flash when I open some photos or so?

Question by charmin: why computer screen start to flash when I open some photos or so?
Why and what happens when I open a file with photos or picture but the computer doesn´t do that it only starts to flash the screen so I can´t go back or change the page. I have to push the on/off button if I want to it stop. There isn´t any viruses in those files as far as I know.
