Where should I start with my own computer?
Posted by: kk : Category: Computer Question Answers
I want to make my own computer because my old one is so far behind in the times that it’s getting really hard to keep trying to just upgrade it. Where should I start? The motherboard? The computer case? I want to be able to play games on the computer, but I don’t really have the funds for a hardcore gaming computer that costs thousands. What brands are really good to trust for certain parts? For example, NVIDIA for video cards.

Go to newegg.com and use their wish list feature. I always start with the case and motherboard. If there’s room to expand and add faster/better parts you have a good start. The last one I built didn’t have the fastest CPU but it is compatible with what were the fastest on the market when I built it so I could upgrade when prices come down. It also has room for more hard drives and up to 8G of RAM.

Motherboard is the base for starting a PC, though having in mind whattype of CPU and grpahcs card you want is a good idea.
some cads only support ATi crossfire, and some only supprot Nvidia SLi, and some support niether.
Also try to get one that supprots th new 1333mhz bus speed, and DDR3 RAM, even if you use a slower CPU or DDR2 ram it means a few years down the line you cna jsut upgrade RAM or CPU, nad no need to have to repalce everyhting.
