I plan to go to the navy this year so that I can obtain my college education for free. I’m interested in computer networking and programming and I plan to get my PhD in computer science. Would that degree plus 4-8 years navy experience working with the most hightech computer equiptment give me a good shot for a high salary. What computer jobs make the most money and in what field?

It depends:
1. What is a high salary to you? $ 100,000 a year? $ 1,000,000 a year?
2. What will be needed in 4 to 8 years when you enter the job market?
3. What do you like about computers? Nothing is worse than going to a high paying job you hate.
My advice is to get a good background in building electronics and in programming. That way, you can either build way-cool hardware or write way-cool programs.
