I got a new computer and I am trying to use the capture card and my computer won’t let me. Any suggestions?

Your capture card comes with specific software that allows it to connect with your computer. This software will come in 2 major ways. First are drivers- Drivers actually connect the computer and the card. Second control software- this allows interface between the card and computer. Some cards will not need both such as a Firewire card. You can use multiple types of software with it such as WMM, Adobe, Vegas, or even HDD detection. But a specific capture card such as a Pinnacle will not be versatile and open.
So for the short answer no you can’t use the card without the software.

Depending on your OS even though i would recommend to download the disks software and drivers you may be able to go around this by access device manger. You can do this by clicking start>(right clicking )Computer> Manage>Device Manager then you will need to try and find the device in the tree diagram this will probably be highlighted already then you simply right click on it and select update drivers.
