others computers cannot connect to the internet through this computer?

i would like to set my computer up to be a server in my network,so i ran network setup wizard from control panel. But when i choose “This computer connect directly to the internet, the other computer in my network connect to the internet through this computer” it keep saying :”others computers cannot connect to the internet through this computer”. What is the problem actually?

Are you using ad hoc connection

may be your set a wrong cable use straight cable to conect PC to Switch / wireless and use Cross Cable to conect PC to PC

Do you have two network cards? You have to have two cards, one that connects to the net and the other card that the computers use to connect to your “server”. Usually when it says “other computers cannot connect to the internet through this computer” it is because there is only ONE network interface which just does not allow network sharing!
Basically you are turning your computer into a router for the other machines and that needs more than one network connector in order to work.
