I was not impressed with this software. I purchased this for use with 2 and 3 year olds, but directions seem difficult and the pictures of lost and found items are not clear and not eye attractive for 2 and 3 year olds. I have the software Dora and the Lost City and it is much more entertaining and interactive than this softwear. I have been very disappointed in the product. The only thing I can say for it is — LOUD.

Dora’s Lost and Found Adventure is an engaging, fun, and interactive game. The box says that the game is for children between the ages of 2 and 5. This game was a little advanced for my 2 year old daughter, but she still thoroughly enjoyed watching Dora on the screen and had fun listening to the backpack song. We had to guide her through every step and do all the mouse manipulation for her, of course, but it still kept her attention for a short time. However, I do think this game is better suited for children ages 3 and up. I am sure in another year or two this will be one of her favorite games.

Age issue aside, the game is fabulous. The graphics are wonderful, using bright colors and paying close attention to detail. The music is entertaining, and the games are fun for kids and adults. It teaches valuable concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, matching, and more in a fun, interactive manner. I would recommend this to any parent of a preschooler as an entertaining way to help your child learn.

My 7 year old and 5 year were very excited to test out the software. It was quick and easy to load on the computer, which isn’t always the case since I have Vista. My children’s computer has a less than adequate memory, and the size of this software did take up quite a bit of our remaining memory. My 5-year-old loved playing it so much though, that it’s worth it. My 7-year-old found it too simple, which is to be expected since the game if made for preschoolers. All of the expected favorites from the show pop up throughout the journey to the Lost City – the theme song, Boots and all of Dora’s friends. My daughter already knows more Spanish words than I do, and it’s because of Dora’s TV show and the computer games.

A good, fun game that my 2 year old likes a lot. FYI: Certain mouse-moves in the game are not user-friendly (even for me, a computer teacher). The difficult moves involve using the mouse to pick up a shovel and use it in order to retrieve the prizes. You have to shake the mouse a certain, specific way for 15 seconds (and meanwhile, it’s hard to know if you are doing it correctly because there the shovel just hovers in front of the hole without any dirt moving). Other difficult mouse-moves involve using the curser (hands) to shake or move objects. I recommend it with caution.

Nickelodeon Dora the Explorer: Lost and Found Adventure is a fun computer game geared toward children ages 2-5. Dora and her friends plan to hold a music show and picnic celebration, but sneaky Swiper swipes all their instruments and picnic supplies. Dora asks for help in locating all the hidden things and implores the game player to assist in the retrieval. Through playing interactive games, children help Dora on the adventure, visit locations such as the beach, garden and circus and are rewarded with the chance to listen to a musical concert in the end. Children can save the game in case they will not have time to completely finish all the tasks in one sitting. In order to play they do not need to be able to read because Dora verbally explains all the directions.

The game helps preschool-aged children develop their computer skills and learn how to use a mouse and follow directions. The game also teaches very basic preschool skills such as problem solving, matching, counting, and colors. It does not teach letters or words. While it isn’t exactly the most educational game that we’ve played, it is very entertaining. Most preschoolers I know are drawn to Dora, and the game features brightly colored scenes and vibrant graphics. My 4yo daughter easily completed all the tasks, navigated through the different options and didn’t need much assistance at all. Very young children would be able to play the game without getting frustrated so long as an adult is able to assist them.

My daughter’s favorite parts of the game are helping Dora and Tico catch nuts, and she also really likes helping the baby circus animals find their mommies. She happily collected stars to unlock the printable coloring sheets. She loves to color and really liked the matching game coloring sheets!
