Love it, but aint perfect…,
In general, I love it but nothing’s perfect. Before this I had the HP T2z which is the predecessor of the TM2 series. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now and thought I’d share my opinion.
Pros:
- FN keys are first laptop functions then F keys: I love this feature. I very rarely use function keys but I do use the volume / brightness / WLAN keys a lot. This new keyboard layout makes the function keys laptop functions by default. You have to hit the FN key to use F11, for example. But the wireless on/off is a touch away.
- Screen flips both ways: the T2z could only rotate one way. This goes both.
- Long lasting battery: with the wireless off and the screen half bright I’ve gotten 6+ hours out of the battery.
- Light: nice to have the weight down. Who wants to carry extra pounds?
Cons:
- No home, end, pg dn, pg up keys: The new keyboard has it’s downside… I use the home end keys a lot, or used to at least. Since we’re talking about the keyboard, I don’t like the feeling. It’s got that clakety-clak feeling of the old keyboards. You feel like you have to be rough with it for the keys to work. It’s not very sensitive either.
- Fingerprint reader on side of screen: this is a horrible design flaw IMHO. Is your screen ever in EXACTLY the same angle? Well think of trying to do a straight line on a tilted screen. Or better yet, think of trying that 4-5 times to get a proper reading.
- Eraser in onenote: I love the new pen with an eraser. However, Onenote doesn’t like to recognize it as an eraser. Not HPs fault I guess, but I bought the tablet to use with onenote.
- Touchpad: it’s got the new touchpad that had the built in buttons like a mac. Not to keen on it.
- No DVD drive: this could be a pro or a con. Depends on how you see it. I very rarely use my drive, but for that 10% of the time, it is VERY necessary. However, it’s weight and battery for something I use only rarely.
So, there you have it. Would I buy another one? Most definitely. I love my touchpad PC.

HP TouchSmart tm2-2150,
I bought this TouchSmart tm2-2150us to replace my old Sony Vaio.
Pros:
- 500GB storage
- 4GB memory, 2GB each slot (expandable to 8GB)
- Intel i3 1.33 GHz (Works fine for image editing)
- Convertible screen (iPad killer)
- Sensitive Touch Screen
- Pen digitizer
- Unique design
- Nice speaker output
Cons:
- a bit heavy (~4.1 lbs)
- reflective display (need to set maximum brightness if you use it outdoor)
- no optical drive
So far, this laptop meet my expectation as a portable and tablet PC. The 12.1 screen size is perfect for traveling (not too big or small) also the battery can stay about 3 – 4 hours using wifi and 4 – 5 hours using cable LAN.

it is a little piece of heaven,
this is the best laptop i have ever owned..it is wonderful and portable, and i can even take my math notes on it..people may think it is a disadvantage it does not come with a dvd drive but you can get one for a great price here on amazon..this was a great investment

Samsungs got this Netboook right!,
Its tough to put this little netbook down; resume with-in 3seconds is pretty phenomenal! HD display with 1366×768 is extremely sharp/bright with much less scrolling.. the 3D SRS sound is a big improvement and is positively loud… the netbook handled all streaming (hulu, netflix, boxee, youtube) without any problems, dual core and wifi N worked flawlessly. 9hrs probably a stretch with wifi and blue-tooth; so far averaging 7hrs with active web… No bloatware at all (hats off to Samsung)… love the Matte screen… and highly recommend upgrade to 2GB ddr3 for a carry anywhere replacement! Prior to this had the highly successful Samsung NC10 (loved it) and with this one Samsung has raised the bar again and priced it right (initially blogs were indicating a base price of $429); Enjoy!

Excellent price for a quality 10 inch/720p display netbook,
This is a fantastic netbook for only $400 – I cannot bring myself to rate it any lower than 5 stars due to lack of Nvidia ion2, gigabit ethernet, usb3 or hdmi, mainly because the price could not have been as low. The other features more than make up for what’s missing.
Battery life can be 9 hours if you aren’t doing a whole lot, but with normal web browsing over wifi I’ve been getting about 6-7 hours. When putting the nf310 to sleep, it only takes 3 seconds to come back to the desktop which is awesome. Also the ability to charge a usb device when powered off is a bonus if I forget my phone charger on the road. The 10 inch native 720p display is impressive and I can’t remember any other 10 inch netbooks with this high resolution and a $400 pricetag.
Browsing sites with flash enabled and youtube 720p videos all worked flawlessly with the dual core atom cpu. I wouldn’t recommend this netbook for gaming but for the price I wasn’t expecting to play the latest gpu intensive games/videos. The build quality is superb, and the Samsung software bundle is complete. A simple uninstall of some extra stuff I didn’t need such as Norton and I was happy. The included Samsung restore/backup software was simple to use and reminded me to set a baseline backup once the nf310 was configured the way I liked it. I was surprised to also find MS Office Starter edition bundled, allowing me to open word and excel files without any extra installs.
After purchasing the nf310, I look forward to seeing what Samsung has in the pipeline for their netbook product line – I expect they will eventually add ion2 and usb3 into this form factor, but I’m sure the price would be closer to $600+ with shorter battery life.

Want this for myself!!,
I got this as an Xmas present for a friend and after adding the extra RAM and some software, I wanted to keep it for myself! YouTube videos played well and the speakers were great–far better than my Sony laptop. This netbook is needed for light document work and needs to be very portable in case documents need to be revised while the user is nowhere near home. The keyboard size should be quite useful. In all, I had to wrap this up and put a bow on it or I would still be tinkering on it for myself.
Incidentally, I had never popped extra RAM in a computer before, but this could not have been simpler. I just unscrewed the panel, popped the old one out and slid the new one in. Simple enough for a chick like me. Like another reviewer stated, it took over an hour to get this up and running because it had to cycle through so many setup elements, but it was really painless (just long), and given how easily I could change the RAM, I didn’t care!
