First off, let me say that I hate learning vocabulary. It is a tedious process, but a must for doing well on the GRE. When I was searching for a good vocab program, I knew I needed flashcards since I need to see something 10 times before I can remember it. What really bothered me was that a lot of GRE vocab books had the word and then a one or two word definition and then a short sentence. It really doesn’t help me to remember the word and for the GRE you really need to know HOW to use the word, not just what it means. What I really liked about these GRE flashcards was that it had the word and on the back it had the definition for each possible use of the word (since each word can have multiple meanings) and they had several sentences using the word (not just one) that drove the point home. It helps you understand how to use the word and understand the different uses of the word – which really helps for the GRE since they try to trick you by using a word that typically is used in one way and then they ask it in a different context which means something else, so if you memorized just that common definition, you would have gotten it wrong.

I have been using the GRE flash cards for a month now and it seems like a good review. I really found the timed flash cards to be useful. So far I am doing about an hour or two a day. I’ll see if it was actually useful in December when I take the GRE I’m very weak on my vocabulary so this product has its work cut out for it.
