I am sure you have come across situations wherein your child says “Dad – I need to print this report for my school project now! And my printer is not working? ”
The same thing happened for me over this last weekend, I took a look at my daughter’s printer and found that her old LEXMARK printer was out of ink. Off I go to the local electronics store and search for the ink cartridge replacement and shocked to see the sticker price for INK
Some searching I stumbled across this Canon PIXMA MP250 for $29.00 (On Sale) at local Fry’s Electronics, I said to myself – it sure is better than buying ink cartridges and I get a free flat bed scanner!
Canon PIXMA MP250 turned out to be a nice printer, it does its job well and it is a “real steal” when it comes to the price.
PROS:
[+] Low initial cost easily affordable
[+] Prints in color and B/W with ease
[+] Decent Color photos possible
[+] Includes a Flat Bed color scanner copier!
[+] Compact and attractive looking
CONS:
[-] Noisy at times
[-] Takes a while to Initialize
[-] Ink reservoirs are small
I think this printer is worth buying especially when “on-sale” as it seems better to buy a new printer than buying replacement ink cartridges. When the ink runs out, I will buy another printer instead of paying money for replacement cartridges.
Bear it in mind that this is not a heavy duty printer, It is generally on the slow side when it prints, But good enough for school kids for most of their tasks.
[Other thoughts]
If printer manufactures think that they can make money buy embedding chips so that people cannot refill their otherwise good ink cartridges and sell ink cartridges at a premium price – Think again – I am sure that there are others like me who do not mind buying a printer itself rather than buying replacement cartridges.
Canon makes good printers, PIXMA MP250 is no exception. Worth every penny! Thank you Canon!

Canon makes great inkjet printers, and although the All-In-One (AIO) MP250 is so cheap considering that it comes with both the color and black color cartridges that it makes you wonder what shortcuts Canon have taken to give you the rediculously low price point, this AIO does not disappoint.
Scanning speed is impressive fast at 300dpi (max is 600 dpi), somewhere around 11 seconds for 8R color photos, and the copying function is around 5 to 10 seconds for a full page black and white. The device scans the first half of the page, prints it halfway and then scans the remaining portion of the page.
The downside to this device is that it comes with a very pathetic LED display that, when used without the manual, is a total nightmare. The maintenance feature displays up to 10 different functions using different alphabets, so unless you have them memorized, you won’t know what the device is doing when you press one of the start buttons when the LED display is displaying anything other than a number. Also, the “Fit-To-Page” function seems to work only when you’re copying an A4 document to 4R size. It does not seem to be able to blow up a smaller page to A4 size.
The device prints beautifully sharp photos, however, since it does not mix all four colors (it only uses CMY, rather than CMYK) to print them, the contrast of the pictures does look a bit weak. I’ve tested all kinds of Canon papers with this device and the output is impressively colorful and sharp.
Worth the money.

Just purchased from Walmart, on sale for $40! I’m using Windows 7 64 bit OS. Easy set up, I just inserted software disc (Included) and it will walk you through set up procedure, then connect printer with USB cord (Included). The ink cartridges (Included)were easy to install. I have had this for a short time, printed several documents and so far so good. I could recommend this to everyone!

Here we have a perfect example of how a perfectly good product can be rated poorly by people who create negative reviews without knowing what they’re talking about. Anyone who has done enough graphics design (I do it for a living) knows that the quality of the output can be as much a factor of software and the computer as the printer. I’ve had nothing but excellent results from this printer with clean, crisp, life like photos. Many applications like Photoshop create projects based on RGB screen output which is why photos, etc. look great on the LCD display but not so good when printed (That needs to be converted to CMYK). Check whatever software you’re using to see how it handles this task or get software that automatically does this for you. Give it a try and I’ll take a bet that the results will be improved. Also, if you’re using non inkjet paper in an inkjet printer and then complain about the poor photo quality, well duh. Finally, considering the very affordable cost of this printer, it’s a bit disingenuous to complain too much about the output quality. You want better? Spend for it. On the other hand, if you just need a printer/scanner for light duty use, as did I, this product does all that competently.

This printer replaced an HP that sucked! This printer has yet to run out of ink and we have printed at least 100 pages at this point. If you are looking for a cost efficient printer, without really the bells and whistles, that can also scan, this is the one. Trust canon products, especially since they are compatible with macs and I am a “Mac.” No! this doesn’t do stellar prints of pictures, but sorry, I didn’t get a printer to do a professional’s job down at the photo store. This is the best bang for your buck that I could find after researching for about three hours. This printer cannot be beat if you need a printer to do just a great job at what is should do: print.
