PROs: The HL-6050D has outstanding text quality at 600 DPI and well over 20 ppm output speed. We haven’t tried the 1200 DPI setting since 600 DPI produces very sharp text. The duplex mode is great–it will automatically collate and print booklets of any length. This is a heavy duty printer with many extra features and is well worth the cost. We don’t know about long-term reliability yet, since we’ve only had it for about a week, but it does seem to be well designed and assembled. Easy software start-up on WindowsXP. (Be sure not to connect printer cable until Brother printer install program asks for it.) It’s simple to install more memory DIMMs and a network card.
CONs: Somewhat loud when printing, but it’s okay for most office setups. Toners are about $90-100 for 7500 pages.

Not fancy, but it’s been churning out prints for three years nonstop except for toner cartridge changes. No problem with varied paper stock. Great quality prints. What else can you ask for? A machine that prints money, maybe, but the Secret Service frowns on that sort of thing.

This printer is just what I needed. My previos printer was an HP 6p that finally gave up after 11 years. I have to admit I was a little nervous to stray from HP, but I am glad I took the chance. I have had this printer for a few months now and it has worked like a dream. Yes, the noise (thumping) is a little loud, but it really does not bother me and worth it for the functions.

This is so much more effective for the needs of our small business than inkjet tecnyology. Seems very fast. Also replaces $1400 dot matrix used for PR checks. 600 sheet tray is indication that machine can be used for heavier jobs.

we use a lot double-sided printing on several HL6050Ds,that make I could not agree with 2 other reviews completely. If you used more on double-sided printing, you will find its fuser unit would getting overheat.in this situation, paper might jam inside the machine or damage on your document. choose this one if you’d print them in single side mode.
